We are currently living in a trying time—the threat of COVID-19 is something that worries all of us and preoccupies our days. However, hidden in the anxiety and fear is an opportunity: we all have the chance to take on a leadership role that allows us to protect our loved ones and our communities. At Giovanni’s Frozen Pizza, this is something we take seriously as local community leaders. We can follow steps that allow us to slow and stop the spread of illness communities around the world. While these are not guarantees, by any stretch, we can at least rest assured we are doing everything we can to make sure we have control over our futures.
Practice good hygiene
The simplest way to help the community stay healthy is to keep ourselves and our environments clean at all times. This starts with our own bodies—we especially need to make sure we’re keeping our hands clean, as one of the easiest ways to transmit a disease like COVID-19 is through touching and germs. You should also fight the natural urge to touch your face—especially your mouth, nose and eyes—because it’s very easy to transmit the disease from your hands into these areas. Also, be sure to cover your mouth with a tissue when you cough, and dispose of the tissue before thoroughly washing your hands to make sure you’re killing all germs.
Be responsible towards community members
Stopping the spread of illness depends on all of us taking care of each other. There are demographics that can be more susceptible to the serious effects of COVID-19 than others, but it needs to be abundantly clear that we are all at equal risk of carrying and passing on the disease. As a result, if you choose to be careless about hygiene or social distancing, you are creating the potential to infect others who could be very vulnerable to the most serious and debilitating effects of the disease. You need to not just take care of yourself—you need to act responsibly and make sure that you are not putting any of your friends and neighbors at risk.
Know the symptoms
COVID-19’s symptoms are still revealing themselves in many ways, but there are some we are able to confidently say are hallmarks of the disease at this point. Fever, cough and shortness of breath are all signs to be on the lookout for, so be sure to keep a close eye on your loved ones for any symptoms. If you believe you’re experiencing any of these symptoms yourself, monitor your own status closely and seek medical attention if symptoms worsen.
Stopping the spread of illness is something your neighbors at Giovanni’s Frozen Pizza take very seriously, and we are pleased to provide these tips. We hope you all stay happy, healthy and safe in the coming weeks—be sure to visit the CDC’s website often for more information about how we can all work together to stop the spread of this illness.
